Vök Baths

Vök Baths was opened in July 2019 and boasts a collection of serene geothermal floating pools with infinity view. The site is located on the gorgeous Lake Urriðavatn in East Iceland.

Vök Baths uses no chemicals in the water so you can be certain that you are bathing in natural geothermal water. The geothermal water used in the baths is unique in Iceland. It is the only geothermal water certified for drinking in the whole country. The water comes from boreholes located only few hundred meters from Vök Baths.  The boreholes are 1000-2000 meters deep and the water is about 75°C.

Vök baths make a determined effort to avoid all use and disposal of plastic where possible, and packaging is organic and recyclable. Most of the wooden features at Vök Baths are made from ethically sourced trees raised and felled in East Iceland.

We went on a bus to Vök baths and got mushroom soup and bread before we went into the baths. When we went into the changing rooms, we got a wristband which is used to lock your closet and order drinks from the bar. Once we got into the baths some kids went to the sauna, others stayed in the hot tubs but some kids started jumping in the cold river. That got the other kids attention so almost everyone jumped into the cold water. That was very refreshing and fun.

Then everybody were just chilling, enjoying the view and having fun. Some kids ordered slushy but others just wanted water. When we went out of the pool everyone got tea and we went home.
