In phase 6, groups will begin to coordinate their presentation event. They will gather tools and materials needed to construct their models. Days 25-35
Start building. Coordinate invitation to community with the teacher and principal and PTG president. Bring in tech support or experts in the field of building and architecture to help with the building phase.
Decide what media they will use: tactile, 3D digital drawing program for city planning, art supplies needed.
Collaborative group reflection on Day 29: Video journal as a group - how do you think the process is working so far? What would you have changed up to this point, if anything? Do you feel like you chose the right role for yourselves? Say one thing each member of your group did well. Say one thing each member of the group could do to help the group.
Give students who want or need a project managing and timeline tool. Either physical and big that they can look at on the wall or something virtual that is easily updated. Provide additional ideas for how to construct things. Ask a mentor student from a higher grade to come and assist the group with construction. Provide extra sessions for some students to work individually with the teacher or mentor or teaching assistant on the project in a quiet workspace where the students can focus and ask questions. Encourage students to use extra tools to make measuring and building easier.
