In phase 3 students will use what they learned in phase 2 to help them create interview questions and surveys for their community. Days 8-12
Students will create their surveys to ask their community. They must know what they want to find out, how they will ask the question in order to get the right kind of feedback. They will come up with suggestions on how to improve the community: more parks, a bike trail, a swimming pool, a recreation center, etc. They will decide what survey tool they will use to collect data. Revise their survey questions after self and peer assessment.
Self assessment Video Journal: Do I know how to use the tools for delivering a survey?
Peer Assessment face to face/on google doc: will these questions provide insight to the issue about how to decide what the community would benefit from?
Google doc: will these questions provide insight to the issue about how to decide what the community would benefit from?
Talk about questions (who what when where, how many, why…) and how to ask so you get the answers you need. Discuss different types of surveys. Assign some kids to come up with only two questions so they can focus on the quality, rather than quantity. Work 1:1 with those kids to investigate questions and develop quality one.
