This is a one-day opportunity for new AP students to sharpen their skills before starting the school-year. In the morning session, students will be able to choose from a variety of hour-long classes taught by AP teachers that will target skills specific to their classes and individual needs. During lunch, students will have the opportunity to meet many of the AP teachers. The afternoon session will be spent meeting other new AP students and asking experienced AP students questions about their own experiences. The Bootcamp will be a kick off for a new program called AP Brigades. During the school year, each new AP student will be a member of an AP Brigade made up of other first-time AP students and one experienced student. They will meet monthly for lunch throughout the year to discuss important topics such as time management, registering for the AP exam, preparing for the AP exam, and more.

The Summer Reading Experience is a three-week program which provides an enjoyable and fun way for students to develop many literacy skills. By reading and discussing themes in young adult literature, students will practice skills such as fluency, comprehension, and gain new vocabulary knowledge. In addition, students will be exposed to new ideas and concepts and learn how to be lifelong readers. Plus, we want to convey to students that reading is FUN! As such, we want students to see themselves as readers in the world, experiencing reading through not just class discussions, but also through various field trips that will enhance their learning.
