Forty-five (45) credits are necessary for graduation. A unit of credit is given for the successful completion of a semester’s work, which includes music and physical education. PLEASE NOTE: If a student repeats a course (other than a Physical Education course) for which he/she has received credit, additional credit will not be issued. In addition to the credit requirements, the following subjects must be successfully completed in order to graduate:
- Classroom Driver Education: Will be taught as part of sophomore Physical Education.
- Consumer Education: One (1) semester
- English: Eight (8) Semesters
- Fine and Applied Arts: Two (2) semesters - to be chosen from applied technology, art, business education, world languages, family and consumer sciences, music, or theater.
- Health: (Freshmen) - One (1) semester
- Mathematics: Six (6) semesters - All juniors must be enrolled in a mathematics class
- Physical Education: One (1) semester freshman year and two (2) semesters sophomore through senior year
- Science: Four (4) semesters
- Social Studies: Six (6) semesters
- Writing: Two (2) writing-intensive courses are required. These requirements are met through the English Department.
- Community Service: Students must complete twenty-five hours of community service as part of their graduation requirement.
Registration Procedures
Fenton HS students participate in course selection in January and February in collaboration with their Counselors. Course request changes will be made only as course availability permits.
