COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE

ECHS School Commitment

We commit to prepare each student with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in high school, college and beyond. We will:

· Always expect the best from each scholar.

· Show respect for each student and his/her family.

· Consistently push students to be their best academically and behaviorally.

· We will make the most of each learning opportunity and plan each day’s lesson to be the best of our ability to maximize time and push each scholar to academic excellence.

· Arrive ready to teach daily.

· Provide a safe and orderly learning environment that is conducive to learning.

· Assign meaningful and appropriate assignments.

· Enforce school and classroom rules fairly and consistently.

· Demonstrate professional behavior and a positive attitude.

· Use special activities in the classroom to make learning enjoyable.

· Receive feedback and implement feedback without delay.

If we keep this commitment, we know our students will be prepared for their college classes and life.

ECHS Parent Commitment

We commit to support our child’s education at Early College High School. We will:

· Always expect the best for my child, the teachers, and the school.

· Sign up to FindOutFirst and routinely check PowerSchool Parent Portal to check student progress.

· Partner with the school to ensure child success.

· Make sure our child arrives at ECHS every day and on time.

· Make sure our student is dressed according to school dress code policy.

· Support the school’s discipline policy.

· Attend all parent events, meetings, and conferences.

· Assist with at least one school or classroom activity.

· Ask student daily about school day and progress.

· Assist your student in fulfilling the 5-year commitment. Remind them that this is a commitment.

If we keep this commitment, we know our students will be prepared for their college classes and life.

ECHS Student Commitment

I commit to remaining at ECHS for the duration of my 5-year commitment. I commit to having a growth mindset. I will always work relentlessly to reach my goals and support my peers in doing the same. This means:

Attendance

· I will arrive at ECHS daily, on time, and prepared to learn.

· I will attend all tutoring sessions during and after school, as needed.

· If I am absent, I will be proactive in obtaining all work missed from my teachers and get assistance from peers or my teacher if needed.

· I understand that 10 or more absences in any class will result in me failing the course.

Electronic Device

· I will follow the school’s technology policies as outlined in the district handbook.

Classwork & Homework

· I will always do my best work.

· I will complete all classwork and homework assignments.

· I understand that failing to submit completed assignments will directly impact my ability to:

o be successful in class from day to day

o complete the requirements to obtain my associate’s degree

Character

· I will represent ECHS to the best of my abilities at all times.

· I will show respect for myself, my school and others.

· I will be kind and helpful to my peers.

· I will approach each task with a growth mindset.

· I will implement the 7 Habits when necessary.

· I will be honest in all of my dealings with my teachers and peers. I know that to be trusted, I must uphold my integrity, even when facing peer pressure or challenging situations.

I realize that to sustain and successfully complete ECHS with my associate’s degree it will take hard work, determination, and a growth mindset. The road will not be easy, and I realize that if I keep my commitment, I will earn a high school diploma and an associate’s degree.
