Goals of the FHS College Academy

• Follow the College Diploma Pathways at FHS

• Implement with the class of 2027 and 2028.

• Prepare students for the ACT

• Prepare our students for Post-Secondary Educational success at Universities 

• Develop and hone Study Skills 

• Hone Math and Writing Skills 

• Admission to the FHS Academy is necessary for dual credit at FHS.

Requirements to Apply for the FHS College Academy 

1. Have 90% cumulative attendance

2. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

3. Has filled out an application

4. Has submitted an application cover Letter that addresses: a)Academic Goals; 2) College Goals; 3) Career Goals; 4) Why the student wants to join the FHS College Academy

5. FHS College Academy Google Classroom Code is: xhrmc3i

Important Dates for spring of 2025 applicants 

1. Parent Meeting in the iLab on November 7 at 6PM for class of 2027 and 2028. Parent Meeting on November 14 for Class of 2029 in FHS room 109

2. Application and Cover letter Submitted for spring 2025 admission is Nov 15

3. Interviews with the FHS Academy Faculty Committee for Spring Admission is Dec 2.

4. Admitted students for spring of 25 will be informed by  December 13.

5. Admitted Students need to take the accuplacer in Reading, Writing, and Math on either Jan 13 or Jan 14.  Testing is at 7:45 am on those dates.  Bring a Chromebook and $20.

6. Students need to apply to Mineral Area College at this Link 

Important Dates for Fall 25 applicants (class of 2027, 2028, 2029)

4. Interviews with the FHS Academy Faculty Committee for Spring Admission Are January 13 and 14.

5. Admitted students for Fall of 25 will be informed by  January 24.

6. Admitted Students need to take the accuplacer in Reading, Writing, and Math on either April 3 or 4.  Testing is at 7:45 am on those dates.  Bring a Chromebook and $20.

College Academy Classes for 9th graders and 10th graders 

1. 9th graders

   1. College Prep American History

   2. Enhanced ELA I

   3. Intro to College (May have a summer option)

2. 10th Graders

   1. College World Civ I and II

   2. Enhanced ELA II

   3. Chemistry  recommended(if enrolled concurrently or had Algebra 2)
