The No. 4 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (13-1-2, 6-0-2 CC) gets set for a big road test against Washington College (10-1-5, 6-1-1 CC) Saturday at 7:00 p.m. that will decide the No. 1 seed in the Centennial Conference (CC) tournament. The Diplomats need to win or tie their game against the Shoremen to clinch the top-spot in the playoff. Nonetheless, F&M has already secured a top-two seed in the tournament.
Last Week
Franklin & Marshall went a perfect 2-0 with shutouts in both CC games last week.
In the Diplomats 2-0 win over Dickinson, Jack Baer registered his first-career goal just two minutes into the contest. F&M added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute of the match on a strike from Owen Sobel. Both Oscar Horwitz and Koa Kaliebe were credited with assists in the win. Saturday evening, the Diplomats celebrated Senior Night by shutting down Gettysburg, 1-0, on a 61st minute score by Baer. Nolan Booth needed just two saves to pick up his fourth shutout of the season and the sixth clean sheet of his career. Read the full recap here.
Last Time vs. Washington College
F&M opened the 2022 Centennial Conference slate with a 1-0 victory over Washington College. After playing the first 45 without a goal for either team, the Diplomats came out of the halftime break with an aggressive attack on offense. Kaliebe dribbled past the WAC defense towards the end line and sent a centering pass to a crashing Horwitz - planting a shot into the open area of the net to put F&M up 1-0. Washington College Team Preview
After dropping a 1-0 loss to Johns Hopkins, the Shoremen rebounded with a 2-0 shutout over Muhlenberg Saturday evening. Katim Njie and Ben Strine lead the team in goals with five each, while Njie also holds the team-lead in points with 14. Goalkeeper Anthony Pinto leads the conference with a 0.615 goals-against average and a save percentage of 81.8 percent. Pinto also leads the CC with seven shutouts this fall.
