Game Notes

The No. 18 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (8-1-2, 2-0-2 CC) begins three-game homestand that features two matches this week. The Diplomats battle No. 16 Muhlenberg (8-1-1, 3-0-1 CC) on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. before hosting Lancaster Bible (4-5-2, 1-1 United East) on Monday at 7:00 p.m.

Last Week

Franklin & Marshall went 3-0 on the road last week with two wins coming against Centennial Conference (CC) opponents. The Diplomats began the week with a 3-1 victory at Ursinus Wednesday evening. Oscar Horwitz, Adeon Muyskens, and Koa Kaliebe all nothced goals in the win. F&M outshot Ursinus 23-10 in the game. Read the full recap here. 

The Diplomats went on to erase an early 1-0 McDaniel lead by scoring three-unanswered goals in the second half to push past the Green Terror, 3-1. Nathan Schlessinger tied the game in the 53rd minute for his first score of the season. Horwitz buried the game-winner, while Koa Kaliebe added an insurance goal to solidify the win for F&M. F&M cruised to a 4-0 shutout victory over Alvernia Monday evening - picking up the third shutout win for the Diplomats this fall. Owen Sobel registered his first-career goal to give Franklin & Marshall the lead in the 11th minute. Kaliebe followed Sobel's score with goals in the 35th minute and 51st minute. The Diplomats scoring was capped in the 78th minute as Miguel Rosa found the back of the net for his first-career goal. Nolan Booth made three saves in net without allowing a goal to record his second shutout of the season and the third of his career. Read the full recap here. 

Last Time vs. Muhlenberg

The last time Muhlenberg and F&M faced off was in last year's Centennial Conference tournament, where the Mules eliminated the Diplomats, 2-0. Read the full recap here. 

The Diplomats held off the Mules during the regular season, 2-1, in late-September. Horwitz and Kaliebe each tallied goals to put F&M in front, 2-0. Muhlenberg responded with a goal in the 79th minute, but couldn't come up with the equalizer. Sam Farrell '23 made seven saves in the win. Read the full recap here. 

Last Time vs. Lancaster Bible

Lancaster Bible has never beaten F&M, with the last matchup resulting in a 0-0 tie. Farrell '23 made a game-high five saves to keep the Chargers off the scoreboard. Kaliebe lead the team in shots with four, followed by Philip Monos with three. Read the full recap here. 

Muhlenberg Team Preview

Muhlenberg is currently ranked No. 16 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll with the Mules only loss so far this season coming against Scranton in the season opener. The Mules enter Saturday's contest with a five-game winning streak - outscoring opponents 15-2 in that span. Taylan Akdag leads the Mules in points (15), goals (five), and assists this fall. Goalkeeper Ben Mulford sports a 0.51 goals-against average with a save percentage of 78.3 percent. 

Lancaster Bible Team Preview

Before the Chargers take on F&M, they travel to Washington, D.C. to play Gallaudet Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Andrew Cox leads LBC with 11 goals so far this season. Devyn Kintzer is the team-leader in assists with four. Goalkeeper Richie Lockard holds a 2.04 goals-against average with a save percentage of 70.5 percent.
