The Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (13-3-2, 6-1-2 CC) prepares to make its 10th-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, hosting the first two rounds at Tylus Field. F&M gets set to face Geneva (12-4-4, 7-0-3 PAC) Friday at 4:00 p.m. in the opening round. Following that game Denison (12-4-3, 4-2-2 NCAC) squares off with Connecticut College (9-6-1, 4-5-1 NESCAC) starting at 6:30 p.m. The winners of those games will play each other in the second round of the tournament Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
Diplomats in the Tournament
Franklin & Marshall has reached the second round or further in eight of the last nine times its qualified for the big dance. The Diplomats haven't made it past the second round of the tournament since the 2016 season - where F&M advanced all the way to the Elite 8.
This weekend also marks the eighth time since 2013 where F&M will host at least one round of the NCAA Tournament.
Last Time vs. Geneva
The Diplomats downed Geneva 1-0 during the first round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Robert Maze '19 tallied the game's lone goal in the 24th minute on an assist from Jason Tonelli '17 to advance F&M in the tournament. Geneva Team Preview
Ending its regular season on a 10-game unbeaten streak, Geneva beat Waynesburg and Grove City College to claim the Presidents' Athletic Conference title. Wil Dunda and Carnel Kerr are tied for the team lead with six goals each. Dunda holds the team-high in points with 15 this season. Gabe Singh leads Geneva in assists with five this year. Goalkeeper Evan Shale holds a 1.19 goals-against average with save percentage of 73.6 percent.
Connecticut College Team Preview
Connecticut College ended the regular season unbeaten with a record of 10-0-5. The Camels beat Hamilton, 3-1, in double overtime during the NESCAC Tournament Quarterfinals. Conn. College then suffered its first loss of the fall, 2-1, against Amherst in the Semifinals. Jake Creus and Matt Scoffone are tied for the team-lead in goals with seven each this season. Creus, Spatz, and Quiros-Newton all share the team-high in assists with three each. Goalkeeper Peter Silvester sports a 0.85 goals-against average with a save percentage of 72.5 percent.
Denison Team Preview
Denison locked up the No. 3 seed in the NCAC Tournament, where the Big Red defeated Kenyon, 3-1, to win the conference title. Jake Krueger holds the team-high in goals (six) and is tied for the lead in points with Kameron Kist at 17. Goalkeeper Tommy Prokos holds a 0.82 goals-against average with a save percentage of 78.9 percent.
