There are four very important assessment periods that occur each year at the high school level: Fall State of Ohio End-of-Course (EOC) Testing, state-sponsored ACT Test for juniors, Spring State of Ohio End-of-Course (EOC) Testing, and Advanced Placement (AP) Exams. Please make a note of these very important dates now, in order to prevent conflicts. To help your student plan for success, parents are strongly encouraged to avoid scheduling family vacations, dental/doctor appointments, and college visits on test days.
All of these assessments are mandatory. It is incredibly important for students to be at school on testing days. More detailed information about the adjusted bell schedule for Spring EOC testing days will be published closer to testing time. If you have any questions about testing for your student, please contact their school counselor at 937-879-3611.
Ohio End-of-Course (EOC) Assessments
Fall EOCs are given only to students who have previously taken the test(s) and still need to meet a minimum score for graduation requirements, students who may have taken a related CCP course over the summer, or students who may have unique circumstances related to enrollment transitions. The Spring EOCs are given to all students who need to take their initial subject tests in English 10, Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, American Studies, and U.S. Government as well as any students who still need to meet minimum scores for graduation.

National ACT Test
Fairborn High School does not offer the National ACT, but FHS students are able to take the test at any other location that has availability in the nearby area.
Students with an ACT test score can qualify for the Ohio Township Association Scholarship. The Ohio Township Association Scholarship allows students who get a 22 on the ACT to help them qualify for up to $1,500 towards their educational goals.
Superscoring can open the door for qualifying for these and other scholarships, too. Over 57% of students in Ohio increase their score by taking the ACT more than once. In 2022 alone, Ohio grads who took the ACT more than once had an average composite score of 23 on their second time compared to their initial score of 17.
Students can sign up to take the ACT here.
SAT
Fairborn High School does not offer the SAT, but FHS students are able to take the test at any other location that has availability in the nearby area.
Most colleges in the U.S.—including those that are test optional—accept SAT scores as part of the admissions process. Together with high school grades, the SAT can show your potential to succeed in college and careers. SAT scores are standardized, so they help colleges compare students from different high schools. Your scores show your strengths and readiness for college work. But remember, scores are just one part of your college application.
Students can sign up to take the SAT here.

PSAT
Fairborn High School offers the PSAT once a year in October. Students must sign up to take this test and pay $15 to the finance office by the due date, which is posted in the grade level Google Classrooms.
The PSAT/NMSQT is more than good practice for the SAT. With insights about your knowledge and skills, you can set your own target score for the SAT. And, based on your scores, you’ll get personalized recommendations about AP® courses that are a good fit. What sets the PSAT/NMSQT apart from the rest of the tests in the SAT Suite of Assessments is that students who take it and meet other program entry requirements will enter the National Merit® Scholarship Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
