I've been accepted! Now what?
First of all, congratulations! Being accepted into college is a big deal, so pat yourself on the back! Being accepted into college can also be overwhelming. What are the next steps?
Send Mrs. Zink a copy of your acceptance letter! We put acceptances into the graduation program, as well as post them on the slideshow that runs throughout the building.
If you haven't already, go on a campus visit! Make sure that this college is a right fit for you and your needs.
Make sure you have filled out your FAFSA and sent it to your school (or schools). In order to receive scholarships from colleges, many require you to complete the FAFSA. You can find more information on this on the FAFSA page.
Compare each of your schools that you were accepted to. Look at things such as financial offers, campus environment, graduation rates, clubs and organizations, etc. Where can you imagine yourself being the most happy and successful?
Accept the offer from whichever school you choose. Most schools will require a deposit in order to "confirm" your acceptance.
Set up your college email account and add it to your phone. This is the only way your college will contact you once you've been accepted, so don't forget to check that email every day!
Apply for scholarships through your school! Make sure to take a careful look at their general scholarships as well as their major specific scholarships.
Sign up for freshman orientation. This is where you will get to tour the campus as a future student, register for classes, meet your advisor, make friends, and more!
Follow your school on social media! This will be a great resource on what is going on on campus and will keep you in the loop on updates from your school.
