Counseling Program
High school counselors provide services to student, parents, school staff and the community in the following areas:
DIRECT SERVICES:
Work with students, families, and staff on addressing any barriers that are or may be interfering with student success
Provide students with classroom curriculum, including information on educational requirements, high school program options, and post high school options.
Host parent nights providing information on transition to high school and course selection, college admissions, financial aid, drug/alcohol prevention, and other topics
INDIRECT SERVICES:
Facilitate outreach with community mental health support agencies
Collaborate with the Career Center to help students develop their high school and post-secondary plans
Prepare Secondary School Reports and letters of recommendation for students applying to colleges requiring them
Coordinate programs such as Running Start, Cascadia Tech, 504 plans, and advanced placement
