Even if you are not considering college now, taking the minimum high school core classes will ensure the door is open should you change your mind. One requirement for freshman admission to Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University, Evergreen State College, University of Washington, Washington State University and Western Washington University is that colleges are requiring three CADRs (core classes) be taken each year of high school. See www.wsac.wa.gov for more details.

The entrance requirements for each college/university other than the six four-year Washington Universities may be different. It is important to research each institution’s admission requirements. Two links are provided below.

Quantitative Courses (For students who intend to enroll in a 4 year University)

A high school student must complete 3 credits of math through Algebra 2 (or a district approved equivalent) to graduate in the State of Washington. In addition to minimum graduation requirements, a student who has not successfully completed pre-calculus or higher by the end of 11th grade, must complete a senior year math-based quantitative course to be eligible for direct admission to a Washington State University. Quantitative courses will receive a “Q” designation next to the course name on the student’s transcript.
