“You can’t stop us on the road to freedom

You can’t keep us ‘cause our eyes can see.”

-Van Morrison, Musician

The rolling wheat fields of Walla Walla tumble on before me while the wind-tossed clouds dance with their shadows. I can feel the quiet here in these wide-open spaces where time seems to stand still. And yet I can witness it moving through the young green wheat and the golden stubble of a recent harvest. Ribbons of light, and textures of velvet greens and blues stretch out before me. I am back in Walla Walla.

My series of images will take you, my audience, on a visual journey where soft winds blow over the land and blue skies stoop down to touch the highest hills. We will move through the dusty browns of hibernating soil and up and over honey-golden valleys. Our eyes will explore the tractor-worn lanes that wind through these hills all the way to nightfall. And we will pause and wonder at the glory of it all.

I would like you to know the smell of soil after rain, to inhale deeply and feel the sense of freedom that this landscape can give. I want you to care only about now for a little while. This is Walla Walla.
