Bookscape | June 2021

Books have always been an escape for me. I have grown up with them, from being a small child to a grown adult. They let me relax and forget about the outside world for a while. Transforming from words on paper to vast worlds and landscapes simply by opening to a chapter and starting to read. I can breathe deeply and remain calm while reading. I’m drawn to the beautiful covers and synopses on the backs, seeing which new world I can immerse myself into that day.

Over the course of 10 weeks I have developed this body of work to show what books mean to me and how I see them through my viewpoint. Each novel is different and can have many different takeaways. Reading one time through may be just a glimpse into a boundless universe, and one might have to start again to see what they missed. Books are a comfort, a home outside of the known, a place to rest when things get too stressful. Whether it be kingdoms and crowns, dragons and war or romance and spite, there is something for everyone in the book community waiting to be explored.
