Ms. Schlamkowitz's Business Law Class had their second trip to the Westchester County Courthouse on Wednesday, March 5 and witnessed testimony during a murder trial. As the class's curriculum developed deeper into the year, the students were able to relate to the direct questioning and legal strategies of both the prosecution and defense. The Honorable Judge Robert Prisco (EHS Class of 1979) presided over the case and was able to have the students visit during this intense legal battle.
The EHS Music Department is pleased to recognize Paul Moser for his outstanding achievement in being selected to participate in the 2025 WCSMA All County Jazz Ensemble. The concert took place this past Friday, March 21st, at The Hommocks Middle School.
Paul competed with jazz students from across Westchester demonstrating not only technical proficiency on his instrument but also a passion for music and a commitment to excellence. Being chosen for this honor band is a significant accomplishment, as it requires both individual skill and the ability to collaborate with other talented musicians.
Congratulations Paul!
Winter Pep Rally
The first winter pep rally for our school was held this January. This pep rally differed from the others as instead of having teams dancing, students and teachers competed in games such as hungry hippos, musical chairs, cup stacking, beach towel relay race and more. This allowed the event to be opened up to the whole school's student body instead of just the athletes. This pep rally was a great way to kick off the start of winter break and a huge success all around.
Rock Against Cancer
Rock Against Cancer was a MUSCIAL SUCCESS! This event was held on March 7th in the EHS auditorium, raising well over their goal at a total of $4418. The even featured student and teacher bands, singers of all kinds, with a wide variety of music from Gracie Abrams to The Cranberries. This year marked the first ever sixth grade band and all performers sang perfectly and EGO ran the event smoothly allowing it to be a huge success.
Pickle Ball Tournament
The pickleball tournament celebrates the memory of EHS student Matthew DeMarco and took place in the lower gym on March 5th. This event was successful as 35 teams participated in this tournament, a significant increase from last year. This tournament involved ten minute games that saw each team advance to the next round. Within the competition, there were fun team names and a battle until the winner was crowned.
Winter Blood Drive
The winter blood drive took place on February 26th and generous volunteers collected 43 units of blood, surpassing the goal of 35. These donations included 35 whole blood and 8 power red units. The EGO filled every donation slot from 2:30 pm- 6:30 pm that allowed each member to facilitate all of the event's needs. Each person was required to pick up a shift that necessitated them to either hand out snacks and drinks or check donors in. One of the highlights of the event were the tireless sacrifices made by EHS faculty who came in droves to donate for such a worth cause.
AP Art History students visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Friday April 4. Students saw works affiliated with the AP Art History curriculum visiting the Ancient Egyptian wing, Ancient Greek sculptures, European Paintings, Asian Galleries and the American Wing along with works by the German Romanticist Caspar David Friedrich.
Kate Kim said, “Seeing the art pieces in person allowed me to connect to them in a personal and meaningful way that’s not fully accessible in the classroom.” Josh Hitner mentioned, “This was the best class trip I’ve ever taken.” This is the first year AP Art History has been offered by Eastchester High School and students are really enjoying the experience.
Rho Kappa went to visit both Anne Hutch and Greenvale to share in our love of Social Studies by teaching the history of the Aztecs, and then the students went on to create their own Aztec masks.
