The Eastchester High School marching band, under the direction of Mark Dodge and Madeline Rende, was invited to participate in the 2025 National Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C. on Monday, May 26th. This three-hour parade passes alongside the National Mall on Constitution Avenue between 7th and 17th Streets in a magnificent salute to America’s Veterans and in honor of those who died in defense of our country. The parade consists of select marching bands and veteran units from each of the 50 states honoring World War I, War World II, The Korean and Vietnam Conflicts, Desert Storm, and the liberation of Grenada, Panama, Iraq and Afghanistan. More than 10,000 participants take part in the parade each year.
Ms. Gavin's English 9 students held a mock trial. They re-enacted the pivotal court case at the center of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. Every student had a role as either a main player or a jury member, and all students in the class did sound effects. Students pointed out literary devices and threw themselves into their roles, complete with accents and drama!
Markus Diamantis took part in the Musical Life International Competition at the Scandinavia House in Manhattan. This year, it brought together 150 kids ages 6-18 from all over the US, Cuba, Asia, and Europe. Markus was nominated by his piano teacher and earned a 3rd place prize! Congratulations Markus!!
Spring Pep Rally
The spring pep rally took place on April 4th and marked the first time it was held during school hours. The theme was Color Wars, with students sitting by grade level and wearing the color that matched their ID: red for freshmen, blue for sophomores, green for juniors, and purple for seniors. The event featured team dances and fun competitions like home run derby, tug of war, and more. Performances from teams like girls lacrosse, unified sports, and track energized the crowd. Overall, it was a huge success and brought great school spirit to the day!
Wiffle Ball Tournament
The tournament was a huge success! It took place on Friday, May 30th at the EHS turf and cost $10 per person, which included a meal and a drink. We had a big turnout, with many teams showing up ready to compete. The games were highly competitive, with teams putting in their best effort and bringing great energy to the field. The event finished around 5 PM, and the sophomore class ran everything smoothly from the well-organized matches to the music. We’re already looking forward to next year’s tournament!
EGO's End of the Year Party
The End-of-Year EGO Party was especially meaningful this year, as we celebrated the retirement of our advisor, Ms. Kenny. To honor her, we surprised her with a heartwarming video featuring messages from past class officers and current students, all expressing their gratitude for the incredible impact she’s had on their lives. Each grade level contributed to the celebration by bringing in drinks, desserts, chips, and pizza. During the event, we also reflected on all of our accomplishments throughout the year and took time to recognize and honor our seniors. It was a memorable and emotional celebration that captured the spirit of EGO.
