I took this photo because I really enjoyed the angle of the tree and thought it would lend itself to a shot like this. Also, lots of people were taking pictures of the various plum blossoms so it was definitely easier to take this photo than to take a photo of the plum blossoms.

These are intersecting rooftops at a samurai residence. I decided to line up the edge of the roof at the bottom left of the frame, which threw all the roofs a bit off kilter. I also processed it in black and white because I liked the shapes created by the emptiness of the sky.
