Louis E. Wedertz built this two story building near the old Nye Mill building, which was down at the original town site by the East Walker River and old bridge crossing, Bridge Street. It was his store on the lower level and a community hall on the upper level while the Nye Mill section was converted to be the family home.
In 1901, sons of Louis Wedertz, Clarence and Frank L. jointly inherited the property. Clarence's half of the inheritance was this building. Clarence had the building moved by Washington P. Brandon and his horse-drawn team to this location, the property he had purchased. It was then donated to the community and remodeled to be a church, serving the community still.
