We encourage teachers to create opportunities for students to discuss the videos provided here. Our goal is to get them talking and aware of the effect media has on young people, and to instill in them that they can use digital for good!
Students can then earn a certificate individually by completing the assessment.
We will wrap up this online event at the end of March with the announcement of the contest winners! Don't forget to share that information with your students and encourage them to submit entries!

Talking Points for Teachers:
Technology is part of our everyday lives. We use technology and digital devices for almost every aspect of our lives from learning, socializing, producing content, consuming content, shopping, etc. While there are many benefits to technology, our digital lives can also impact our social and emotional well-being. We need to understand how our actions with technology use impacts our lives, our friendships, our families, our communities, and our reputations.
Social and emotional learning and digital citizenship are important as stand alone topics, but if we focus on these two topics together we can develop skills that we need to navigate and succeed in our digital lives. By focusing on five skills: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness we can learn how to use technology in a way that promotes our well-being and protects our digital image.
