DESMOS CALCULATORS, DESMOS ACTIVITIES, & SUPPORT RESOURCES
Use the Desmos Virginia calculators to model solving contextual problems and with other calculator-allowable math content. The expectation of our division is ongoing Desmos integration. Desmos calculators do not replace teaching students how to engage in the process goals for mathematics. It is important that our students have exposure to the Virginia version of the Desmos calculator as our students will have these calculators embedded in our assessment platform, MasteryConnect, and on applicable Standards of Learning (SOL) tests.
As announced in Superintendent’s Memo 184-21 (PDF) on July 9, 2021, beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, students will use the provided Desmos Virginia Calculator within the TestNav application during an online SOL test. Hand-held calculators #184-21 Page 2 will only be used by students completing a paper test or students with disabilities with an accommodation that requires the use of a hand-held calculator.
Beginning with the fall 2022 test administration, the appropriate online Desmos Virginia Calculator for grades 3–8 mathematics assessments will appear on those test items where the calculator may be used.

Instructional staff should log into teacher.desmos.com to assign Desmos activities.
Students should log into students.desmos.com to engage in these activities after being issued the appropriate class code.
