ECPS Grading Practices Handbook (effective, July 1, 2023): The purpose of this handbook is to provide detailed guidance on the division-wide expectations for grading and the parameters impacting curriculum, instruction, and assessment. This handbook was developed by the Essex County Public Schools Grading Practices Committee during the 2022-2023 school year. Division-wide feedback was obtained through checkpoints, surveys, and side-by-side content area feedback sessions with grade-level and content area teachers to guide the creation of this handbook. The Chief Academic Officer and Senior Director of Teaching and Learning provided division-level oversight of this work.  

ECPS Homework Policy-IKB (effective, July 1, 2023): The Homework Policy was revised by the Essex County Public Schools Grading Practices Committee during the 2022-2023 school year. Division-wide feedback was obtained through checkpoints, surveys, and side-by-side feedback with staff. The policy was approved by the Essex County School Board on May 8, 2023.
