Do you need to prepare to take your GED? Do you need to improved your digital literacy skills too? Our GED Prep classes are offered at no charge to adult learners who meet the eligible requirements who want to prepare for the Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency Test or their GED Test.

steps to enroll into ged prep classes
step 1: complete paperwork with adult education
Call the Adult Education Center at 940-322-6928 to complete registration paperwork by phone or by email through DocHub with one of the Adult Education Center staff members. Registration paperwork includes enrollment form & training and education plan. NOTE: If you're located in the Wichita County area, you will be requested to make an additional "Testing Appointment" to complete your baseline testing BEFORE you attend an HSE Roadmap. If you're located outside of Wichita County, you will complete your baseline testing at the HSE Roadmap session.
step 2: attend an HSE ROADMAP at class site
Attend an enrollment session (click on the class site page to find more information) to complete your registration paperwork (signatures) & provide us with two forms of identification. NOTE: If you're located in the Wichita County area, you will be requested to complete your baseline testing BEFORE you attend an HSE Roadmap. If you're located outside of Wichita County, you will complete your baseline testing at the HSE Roadmap session.
step 3: complete your baseline testing
Be administered the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE) to designate a baseline in reading, math, and language. NOTE: If you're located in the Wichita County area, you will be requested to complete your baseline testing BEFORE you attend an HSE Roadmap. If you're located outside of Wichita County, you will complete your baseline testing at the HSE Roadmap session.
step 4: attendance policy
Attend 40 or more instructional hours and miss no more than 4 absences in an 8-week session
Take a progress assessment after you reach 40 hours.
step 5: be active in your distance learning curriculum
Distance Learning access will be given when you reach 12 direct hours in the classroom. After you have been given access, please work in your Distance Learning Curriculum (Essential Education-GED Academy) for 2-4 hours outside of class each week.
