It all started with a tweet during a twitter chat. A few weeks after we all realized that education as we know it was over in the United States, at least for a few months, I was becoming very aware of all I needed to learn about remote learning. So, during the April 15 #educoach Twitter Chat, I posted a simple question.
And then a little later in the chat, after quite a bit of twitter talk made it clear that others would like a distance learning playbook, I posted a second tweet.
And the rest, as they say, is history. Within two or three days, dozens of people had contacted me, and Joi Lunsford, Courtney Teague, and Kathy Perret had volunteered to lead a group to create the playbook.
At the first meeting over 70 educators had volunteered to work for free to create a document that all educators can use. And that group of volunteers kept working every week, often working long past the hour we set aside for our meeting time.
This playbook is the result of all of that volunteer work and the leadership of Joi, Courtney, and Kathy. Watching everyone work so hard just so they can help others has really inspired me and many others at a time when we need that inspiration.
Margaret Mead very famously said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” I’m convinced that she was right, and this playbook is proof. Thank you to everyone who helped create this great tool for all of us.
