Google Classroom

A collaborative web based classroom and content management system, which allows for teachers and students to stay organized, on task, collaborate with others, and facilitate routines and structures.

    • Creating topics to organize learning and curriculum- you can organize by date or subject area

    • Provide direct instruction via Google Meet or create pre-recorded video and post to Classroom

    • Use rubrics to give feedback and grade student work

    • Communicate with students as a class, with small groups, or one on one to give instruction and feedback

  • Google Classrooms to for staff learning and collaboration

    • Teachers can use G Classroom for leadership or collaboration teams- you could use topics as your guiding questions or content to cover

    • Teachers can easily collaborate and see what other instructors are doing to streamline instruction

  • Students can communicate with each other and their teacher directly

  • Students can watch instructional videos, read alouds, and slideshows and respond with assignments or through discussion

Checklists

  • Create a Class with Title, Class section, and Teacher Name

  • Create a demo class to practice and explore/join a demo class as a student to see the student version.

  • Create an organization system (create a topic) in the Assignments Tabs

  • Create a outline of expectations for digital citizenship

  • View and evaluate your settings. You can control when students can post, where your assignments do not show in your stream, turn on/off email notifications. You can control this from your Gear and then select.

  • Introduce and practice procedures for correct utilization of Google Classroom

  • Develop a system for addressing your special populations

  • i.e You can assign an assignment to certain students. Spec Education, GT, 504, ESL, etc. (One suggestion is for an assignment 2-1 , A star 2-1 would represent Spec-Ed, G 2-1 would represent GT, 5-2-1 504, etc.)

  • Invite students, parents (must have their emails) , administrators, and other stakeholders

  • Now you are ready to create your digital classroom with assignments, discussions, and instruction.
