We have more than7500 caves but we can visit just few of them. Our the longest river is called Váh his lenght is around 400 km.

As of 2021 there are eight World Heritage Sites in Slovakia.Thefirst three were added to the list in 1993. Six sites in Slovakia are cultural and two are natural. We have one Unescosite in our town. It is a Roman-Catholic wooden church of All Saints.

ŠtefanBanič

A parachute was created in Slovakia, the creator was ŠtefanBanič. In 1914 was parachute shown to the public in Washington and safely jumped from the roof of a 15-storey building.


SLOVAKIA

The Lower secondary School Š. Šmálik is located in a provincial town Tvrdošín. There are students from the center, the housing estate Medvedzie and especially from the neighboring village Stefanov nad Oravou. Students mostly come from multiple families where one parent work abroad. There work 21 teachers and study 288 pupils at the school. It is situated in a historic building in the city center. It is equipped with two computer rooms for ICT, bio-physical classrooms, language classrooms, gym, 12 interactive whiteboards, 30 mini-notebooks and 20 tablets. There is a training kitchen in the school where pupils to the practical cooking. Our school intensely devotes to the 18 disadvantaged students who have learning problems. We have a special teacher who has specified three lessons per a week when she tutors them individually. Our students regularly participate successfully in a variety of competitions, Olympiads. The school has a school club. From 21 teachers are 9 teachers from the first grade, one English teacher, two teachers of Slovak language and music, History and Russian teacher, one Art teacher, one teacher of Biology, 1 Physics teacher, 2 Maths teachers, Geography and Maths teacher, 1 teacher of Religious education and 2 tutors. The school is also active in project activities such as eTwinning, previous Comenius, Access and projects announced by the Ministry of Education. Our school got a prize of Ministry of Education for example of good practice. Our one teacher works as eTwinning ambassador after her project won first place in Europe and the Ministry of Education determine our school as a training eTwinning in Slovakia. The school also works with schools and organizations working in the city and county. It is a place where they organize the district rounds of Mathematical Olympiad, Olympiad in Slovak language. We cooperate very close with the center of the spec. educational counsulting and all teachers are helpful in educating of pupils with educational defects. The project will be staffed by four first-level teachers who speak English (project language) and four second level teachers. Engaged teachers are active in international projects. The contact person will be Dagmar Kormaňáková, second-level ANJ teacher and project coordinator. If the person changes when they leave the organization (which is not expected), the coordinator will be Ivana Šoltésová, a first-level teacher and an e-twinning ambassador. Our school was involved in the Comenius project with five parlors from 2010 to 2012, where we actively worked with the children of the age of 7- 15 with the theme of the fairy tale, namely the recognition of the fairy tales of participating countries, their mutual dramatization, the creation of dance and song, the new end of the rocks. All activities have always been relevant to another country, so pupils have the opportunity to learn about other cultures, traditions, and improve their English, which is the project language
