ROMANIA

Scoala Gimnaziala Nr. 1 is the largest primary and secondary school in Bistrita. Bistrita is the biggest town of Bistrita-Nasaud county We have about 1300 students and 85 teachers because our priority is a good education related to our students needs and familial, social, ethnic background. This year we created an extra preparatory class, as the demands for our school were great. Our school understands the needs of families so we offer step by step alternative, which means that students stay at school from 8a.m. untill 4 p.m.They eat at our school eating hall and do their homework. We have, for each class, an optional course that can be reading and creative writing, art, drama, IT, sport, muzic, languages. in addition, afterclasses, teacher can meet studenrs in extracurricular activities like digital storytelling, performance in language learning, maths, etc. Our school has two bodiesof buildings wih over 50 classrooms. we have sience and ITlabs, a gym and several playgrounds. Children can read in the library or study there after classes. there are two teachers that helps them at school subjects or help them to handle their emotions, fears, problems. One of our school objectives in education is to improve our students emotional integration because the background of their families is so various. There are children brought up by only one parent, that parent often works abroad and the child is left to grandparents or relatives. this is a serious problem as at least25% of our students face this problem.we have students from different ethnicity. sometimes they declare it, sometimes not. we try to encourage tolerance and inclusion among them through music, dance, cultural values. Our school has activities in most of the educational areas.the activities are transcurricular. so we present our town tourism and history through a narrative story wsing digital skills and offer versions in foreign language. We choose music to learn about other countries musicians, specific songs . We have activities of fundraising for special health or economical problems. We organise sport competition for voluntariat actions. So far we implemented national programmes on music, literature, science, sport, to expand knowledge and expertise in these areas for both teachers and students.
