Identification and Selection Process

Step 1:  Nominations

A.  Any professional staff member may nominate a student for the gifted talented program. The nomination will be made by completing the Hawthorne-Evaluation Rating Scale.  

B.  Parents may nominate students by completing the Hawthorne Parent Recommendation Form.  

C.  Students may be nominated by their peers or they may nominate themselves by completing the Student Questionnaire and/or a Peer Nomination Form.  

D.  Screening will be ongoing throughout the school year.

E.  Non-qualifying students may be reassessed once a year after initial screening, at the request of an Era ISD professional staff member, administrator, or parent.  Requests must be put in writing.  Regular identification procedures will be followed.
