We had the opportunity during STEM week to tinker with lots of different types of technology in the Infinity Learning Lab. We especially enjoyed building with the Makedo, Lego and the Marble Run.
Tanka Poems!
We have been using our knowlege of syallables to write haikus and tankas. A tanka poem has 5 lines and follows a 5-7-5-7-7 sylable structure. We built on our knowledge of haikus and worked with a partner to create a tanka for a subject of our own interest!
STEM Week!
Interesting Information!
We worked in groups to research one of the 6 climate zones. We worked to create an eye catching poster with a bold heading and images. We included lots of factual information about our climate zone including the countries that experience this this climate, the weather patterns and the plants and animals that thrive and survive there. We presented our information in interesting ways to make our posters interactive; like flaps, pockets and springs!
We enjoyed presenting these to the class!
Perfect Presentations!
We led our own learning on renewable energies. We chose our groups, the renewable energy we wanted to research and worked together to research and create a PowerPoint. We presented our learning to the class and gave each other constructive feedback.
Dynamic Earth
Primary 4 enjoyed a phenomenal trip back in time at Dynamic Earth. Learning about the origins of the world and how weather is created and affects our planet. We had a blast!
Group Work
We are learning to work in groups, to divide and share workload and play to our strengths. We are developing the meta skills of communication, collaboration and feeling. In our groups we have been working to researching one of the 6 climate zones and present information about the weather they experience and the life that exists within them.
SOAR High
We are leading our learning on renewable energies this term. We have chosen our groups and are researching and presenting our findings on solar, wind, hydro or tidal power. We have chosen to present our research in posters and power point presentations.
Clap it Out!
We have been learning about syllables and using our knowledge to create Japanese haiku poems.
We were inspired by dreams and sleeping for our Free Writing today. The class were keen to come to the front and share their writing. Some of the descriptions of comfy beds made us very sleepy....Zzzzzz
Today we practised our throwing and catching skills in basketball. We are learning how to do an over-head pass for longer distances.
World Book Day!
For world book day, we came to school dressed as characters from our favourite books!
Some characters we recognised right away!
Alice in Wonderland
Matilda
Wally
Dorothy and Elsaba
Wimpey Kid
Coraline
Dork Diaries
Our costumes really helped to make work book day special!
Gymnastics!
This week, Primary 4 finished a 6 week block of PE where we developed our skills in:
jumping
motor bike landing
forward rolls
handstands
cart wheels
head stands
frog stands
shoulder stands
We used various equipment to develop form and balance and add movements together to create routines. Today we really enjoyed showing off all of our new skills!
Climate Zones!
We are learning about the world's 6 climate zones. We have been working together with a partner and using an atlas to identify different countries and discover what climate zones they fall within.
