Parent Council Sponsored Silent Disco 🪩🕺
We had the best morning boogieing away at the silent disco this morning!
Thank you very much to the Parent Council for organising a fun morning!
We then tuned into a live lesson from Mathematicats which linked into the theme of this year- Maths Tales.
They showed us how to make our own mini maths 'zine'. We added in what we could see in our classroom including patters, shapes and numbers!
This week is Maths Week Scotland, and we have been engaging in all this Numeracy and Maths.
We started the week by exploring all of the numbers that are special to us.
My house number is 19.
My favourite number is 25.
I will be 8 on my next birthday
Maths across the week
We have been continuing our work on 3D objects and mental addtion games to improve our number bonds and accurecy.
This week we took advantage of this beautiful September weather and took our handwriting outside!
We even got to have 10 minutes enjoying the trim trail in the sunshine after we finished our handwriting.
Lots of happy faces playing in the sun!
We have been loving these sunny afternoons!
We have been practising the correct formation of ladder letters this week and playground chalk was a great tool for these long letters!
We have also been working on our pr and tr blends so we had a go at writing these too!
We welcomed our families in to share our learning for our Numeracy Open Morning. We have been focusing on 3D objects and we had a range of tasks to choose from including STEM challenges, KAPLA model creating and even some printing with objects.
Thank you to everyone who could attend, we loved sharing our learning environment with you all. 💛
We have been using QR codes to document learning experiences in the classroom. Take a look at some of the snaps from Open Morning!
Miss R: What have you made?
A and J: It is 2 pyramids. It is like a timer.
I can see cuboids and a prism shape in my build.
We made a cube- it has sides all the same length.
I copied the picture, it has a triangle roof!
This week we have been celebrating UNCRC week and the children have been focusing on understanding our Rights. 🧑🤝🧑
We have been revisiting the rights of the child and why they are important for everyone to know. Take a look at some of our Rights Shields that protect us!
Children have the right to play
Rights are for everyone and all the people should know about them.
I chose to make a shield with all of the rights as they are all important.
We have been diving into our literacy work through DLL strategies. Children do a combination of Teacher Led, Teacher Initiated and Child Led activities to support their reading.
We are reading our familiar reading books 📚
We are learning the sounds sw and sn this week.
We welcomed Mrs Lyall back into our class this week where we were practising clapping along to the beat and keeping to the rhythm. 🎶
We listened to songs and had some time to join in too.
🧱😁🎨
We have been loving having the construction resource Kapla in our classroom this first term. We have been practising all kinds of skills such as fine motor, balance and creativity!
Take a look at some of 3.2's wonderful designs.
We have been practising a range of possession games skills, in particular passing a ball. This week, we had a range of stations set up to practise skills such as accuracy and control.
We got a score of 44!
We are learning to roll a ball with accuracy to our partners.
I was practising the bounce throw with a basketball.
