We have been working on our subtraction skills in Numeracy this week, engaging in a range of tasks to practise the skills when working independently.
LI: To use adjectives to write a descriptive phrase.
This week we have been continuing our work linked to our model text of Little Red Riding Hood and linked this to our grammar work. We looked at all of the settings in the story and wrote descriptive phrases to describe them.
This week, we began our first block of 'Talk for Writing' and are working on the theme of Setting. We are exploring this through the story of Little Red Riding Hood. 🐺 🧺 📖 🌲

We looked at a picture of Grandmother's cottage and used our senses to come up with descriptive adjectives to describe the setting.

Over the past term, we have been focusing on possion game skills including ball control and passing. We are now putting our skills into practise by playing some games of hockey! Take a look at our super teams which we will work with in the next few weeks to develop our teamwork and communication!
Class Trip to the Library 📖
We visited Eaglesham Library this week to explore books linked to our learning context- Weather!
We all chose a book to bring back to enjoy in the classroom 😁
To inspire our setting writing, we went on a walk through our Outdoor Nature Garden recording what we could See, Hear, Feel and Smell (we didn't look for things that could taste!). The learners all took some notes with key adjectives and drew pictures to help them complete their setting description.
Our Free Writing this week was some cheeky looking squirrels playing in the Autumn leaves. These confident individuals successful shared their stories with the whole class. Fantastic effort!
I counted the apples in 3's and then I knew that 9 + 9 was 18.
It is tricky because there is one extra at the bottom that is trying to trick you.
We have been practising different ways to quickly count objects from looking at a picture. We counted in 3's and even extended our knowledge to some multiplication.
There are 3 blueberries on each muffin so that has to be 3 x 10 which is 30.
This week in Free Writing, we used a rainy day picture as our hook. The learners had a go at making their our stories or sentences after making a story map as a class. Can you retell our short rainy day story using our class story map?
