We continued our work on division by 2 using concrete materials and also starting to commit the facts to memory!
This week, we said goodbye to our long standing Eaglesham legend- Mr Stern as he begins his retirement. 3.2 were amazed to hear the Mr Stern had worked at Eaglesham for 34 years! As part of the whole school assembly, we all decorated our very own version of Mr Stern. P3 chose to make him in his Commonwealth Games outfit when he carried the baton through Eaglesham in 2014.
We were asked about some of our favourite Mr Stern moments. Ella read out our P3 messages to Mr Stern.
We learnt a special song to sing to Mr Stern which included some sign language - which he found very emotional! 🥲
LI: To use division to solve problems
This week, we have been putting our 2 x table to the test, but this time, looking at division! We used division mats and fun games of bingo to help us practise this skill.
Goodbye Mr Masters!
This week, Mr Masters had his last week at Eaglesham Primary School before he moves on to his new job! It is safe to say that all of the children will miss him (and his nonsense!) very much.
As part of his last week, all the classes have made a little video to be shown on Wednesday as part of the assembly.
We thought you would like to see 3.2's part!
For Valentine's Day, we discussed that it is a day to celebrate all the people in our life.
I love my Mum because she takes care of us - Jordan
I love my Mum because she gives me snuggles - Joshua
I love my Dad because he is funny - Rhia
I love my Mum because she snuggles in with me at night when I go to bed - Isobel
I love my Mum and Dad because I always get to hug them - Juliet
I love my Dad, Mum and sister because every night we read together - Abigail
I love my Dad, Mum, sister and my cat - Sophia
We then discussed that it is also very important to love yourself! We wrote ourselves some little love letters!
I am a kind friend.
I am smart
I am nice.
I never give up.
We have been hard at work, practising our 3 times tables over the past few weeks. We have been learning rhymes, using familiar games and repetitive activities to help us learn the 3 times table.
Keep practising at home P3!
We have been looking at all of the ways to help us understand how we multiply a number. You can use an array, equal groups, skip counting and repeated addition.
We love to play Topmarks games like this one to practise the three times table.
Have a try at this game at home to work on your recall of facts.
I got the counters into groups of three. I used them to count out groups of 3.
You pick an uno card and turn it over. Then you need to solve. I like to use a rekenrek. Once you get the answer you put the counter on it!
Pentagons have been hard at work on their written vertical multiplication calculations!
We celebrated Safer Internet Day on Tuesday by tuning into a Live Lesson created by the BBC. This lesson taught us all the ways to spot scammers when playing games and accessing information online. They taught us home handy tricks to tell whether the information is trustworthy and how to spot a phishing scam!
We discussed that personal information is important information about yourself and it is not to be shared online with people you don't know. We had a go at completing a cut and stick to remind ourselves what we shouldn't share online.
Don't tell people your address that you don't know.
Keep your passwords safe by making them have numbers
Gymnastics PE Block 🤸
We have began our term 2 focus of gymnastics during indoor PE. This week we played a range of games and consolidated balances learnt in P1 and 2.
We ended our first gymnastics lesson with a fun rendition of musical chairs, but with gymnastics mats!
This is the star pose!
We worked on balance and core strength by trying to break our partners 'tuck' pose!
A T shape is with you arms like this and feet together.
This term in music, we have been working on our listening skills. We listened to pieces of music from around the world and spotted the different types of music.
Instrumental is the part with no words
I like the trumpets they make you want to dance.
