The playground areas at Hillview include:
an infant playground with a trim trail, used by the P1-3 classes
a large tarmacked area for P4-7, including a fenced off area for ball games
a wooded area with a trim trail
an area at the front of the school with some climbing equipment and painted markings for maths teaching
As an eco-school, we work hard to ensure that the playgrounds are all litter free, and there is a rota sharing the responsibility of this with all classes.
The playgrounds have markings to allow them to be used for maths activities and it is common to see classes using these areas when they take the learning outdoors.
We have a woodland area at the top of the playground which provides habitats for lots of insects and birds, but is also very frequently visited by deer and squirrels. This area is used by our forest schools teacher, Miss Zeitlin, is a lot of different ways. Particular favourites of the children include den building and cooking on a fire.
