We are thrilled to announce we are now a Gold Rights Respecting School. Our Gold Right’s Respecting School’s accreditation took place on Thursday 30th May where we were assessed by a Professional Adviser from UNICEF. Throughout the morning we shared our school’s rights respecting work and the impact that has been made through embedding children’s rights into daily life at school. The feedback we received was extremely positive with us being recommended for the gold award. Some of the strengths, and there were many, were our projects on equity, fairness and respect. How the language of children’s rights is woven into our curriculum and discussions are part of the daily life in our classrooms. Our whole school nurturing principles and our nurturing and inclusive learning environments were highlighted as a strength as well as the work we are doing around Oracy, encouraging children to develop skills of emotional literacy and be able to articulate their feelings, talk about their rights and advocate for the rights of others. And the cultural diversity week and how it supported the children in their understanding of themselves as citizens of the wider world.
