talking and listening

At Hillview, everyone is a learner. As part of our school improvement plan we are working on developing talking and listening skills. We believe, and research shows, that these skills underpin other learning. To be able to write something, first you have to be able to say it. To benefit from  working collaboratively, you have to have the skills to, for example, assert your opinion, clarify ideas, listen to others and adapt your own thinking. Throughout this session, Hillview staff will take part in professional learning opportunities to build their skills and abilities in teaching talking and listening.
