This week i have learned quite a lot, but the one topic i want to share on my learning log is my Mearns Master Gastronomers.

For Gastronomers we have been in the kitchen practicing making food for our restaurants my group is called Cucina Del Paradiso (Heaven's Kitchen).

Crispy cauliflower recipe

Servings: 2 ,Preparation time: 15 minutes, Cook time: 40 minutes, Total time: 55 minutes

Ingredients

½ head cauliflower cut into florets

● 2 large eggs (whites only) beaten

● 1 teaspoon (tsp) paprika

● ½ teaspoon (tsp) salt or to taste

● 1 teaspoon (tsp) pepper or to taste

● 1 tablespoon (tbsp) oregano dried

● 60g breadcrumbs

Equipment

Baking tray, whisk, bowl, measuring spoons, 2 knives, mixing spoons,

weighing scales, colander, spatula or fish slice, 2 plates.

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Line a baking sheet with baking paper.

2. Prepare the dredges: In a shallow plate beat the eggs and add

paprika, salt, pepper and half of the oregano. Whisk so that it's well

combined. In another shallow plate combine the breadcrumbs

together with the rest of the oregano and additional salt and

pepper if required.

3. Dip each cauliflower floret in the egg mixture, making sure it's fully

coated, then in the breadcrumb mixture and place on the prepared

baking sheet. Continue until finished with all the florets.

4. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.

5. While the florets are baking, prepare the hummus sauce.

6. After baking, allow to cool slightly, then use a fish slice or spatula to

remove the florets from the baking tray.

Seasonal Hummus

Servings: 2, Preparation time: 15 minutes, Cook time: N/A, Total time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

● 200g fresh broad beans, podded

● ½ garlic glove, crushed

● 1.5 tbsp olive oil

● ½ tbsp lemon juice

● ⅛ tsp ground cumin

● ⅛ tsp salt

● 1 tbsp fresh parsley

Equipment

2 chopping boards, 2 knives, measuring spoons, weighing scales,

colander, food processor or hand blender, 1 fork, 1 pot.

Method

1. Boil the beans in water (around 6-8 minutes).

2. Wash and finely chop the parsley.

3. Peel and crush the garlic.

4. When the beans are ready, drain and allow them to cool.

5. Place the beans in a food processor with the remaining

ingredients. Blend for about three minutes until you have a

smooth paste. Add more salt if needed.

For our gastronomers for Mearns Masters we have spit up into groups to make dishes.

My dish is a Strawberry Cheesecake and i made it with Sophie Bruce.

The recipe was my own and we had to place our order on google classroom.

One day in the kitchen we made crispy cauliflower and seasonal hummus then next week we made our dishes and next week my group (Cucina Del Paradiso) are gonna open our Mearns Masters restaurants

COLLABORATION

During Lockerbie we done many activities and many of them required collaboration with your teammates, one of the activities was Orienteering for this activity we had to pair up in groups with a maximum of five.

In my group was Luisa,Huwwa,Maya and me, we got our map and went around the grounds of Lockerbie manor for letter stamps me and my group got at least 15 of the stamps.

Other activities required collaboration like the rock climbing because we had to keep the rope secure for the person climbing and got rid of the slack in the rope.

In other activities had to work well with our teammates like during low ropes,blind trail and the obstacle course.

We had to support our pears in our activity group and either help or guide them through the objective of the certain activity, this really helped to develop trust within one-another and help develop skills related to showing trust.

ALong the way in our activities we had a lot of fun with each other which made lockerbie unforgettable in so many obvious ways.

Another on how we collaborated was in class this morning, we had to work with our shoulder partners and solve division word problems and after we created a division word problem for our partners which i found really fun and I learned something new as well.

In P.E we collaborate and we get into groups and do different activities some was independent and others required working together as a teams.

Collaboration is also required in science and so is listening skills, in fact collaborating requires good listening and team effort.Usually in science I work with Ellie and we have learnt a lot such as how to make circuits,how to make scribbles bots and how to make a battery and find out the voltage.

Collaboration is in so many things sometimes we don't even notice it, always try to get along with others and make a team effort.

Dialogue

Once there was a slay person named Stanley, but nobody ever believed he was slay.

-In School-

"Hey guys" Stanley screamed in excitement upon seeing his friends "are you guys slaying?".

"We are slaying, but you're not" Johnny said laughingly.

"Yeah, we only sit with and talk to slay people" Jimmy shouted in a matter of fact tone.

"Bye unslay loser" Kimmy roared like a dinosaur.

Stanley walked away crying without knowing what happened to his unslay friends (they think they slay).This went on for weeks and then....

-3 weeks later on friday-

"Hey Stanley wanna come mountain climbing with us?" Jimmy asked menacingly.

"Of course guys" Stanley said bursting with joy "am i slay now?"

"Yeah you've always been slay" Jimmy and Kimmy said in unison trying to hold their laughter.

-They climbed up the unslay mountain-

"You know this is a really amazing view lets go right up to the edge of the cliff" Jimmy said with a evil grin.

"Sure" said the others".

They all walked up to the cliff but Jimmy,kimmy and johnny stayed behind Stanley.

"Goodbye Stanley" Johnny said happily pushing Stanley off the cliff.

Stanley passed away but then came back as the slay ghost to haunt the unslay people who pushed him of the cliff.

Communication

1.I'd like to reflect on Thursday's outdoor learning i know a lot of stuff about angles but for outdoor learning it was really fun because everybody got to take part in it and it was really fun and it required a lot of teamwork and communication.

2.This week I have learn how to round decimals even its it has a big amount of decimals to two decimals places and three decimal places and during our learning time we had to communicate a lot with our partners and peers and we all learned something whilst communicating with each other

3.To round 2.134 to a one decimal place first i would i would look at the last two numbers and because its below 5 I would round it down and i would look at the 1 and the 3 and i would round it down to a one decimal place which would be 2.1.

To round 1.587 I would look at the the last two numbers and the 7 is above 5 i would round it to 9 and then i would look at the 5 and 9 and the 9 is above 5 so i would round 59 to 60 so the answer is 1.6
