The CompWeb system was developed and maintained for the AVA by Tom Oakes and Russ Hobby. Tom and Russ also provided technical support for the system, responding to countless questions, problems, and requests for over a decade.
In contrast, front-line user support for the HorseSport system will rely on a to-be-formed team of EVUSA volunteers. There are two main reasons for this:
EVUSA cannot afford to pay for a professional Tier 1 customer support team;
It is not part of Wisebox’s business model to provide this kind of support.
Wisebox will provide initial training for these volunteers and will provide ongoing escalation support, but EVUSA must develop and sustain a volunteer base that will:
Support new HorseSport users;
Escalate problematic support issues;
Forward questions, suggestions, feature requests, and bugs to the AVA for integration into the ongoing EVUSA & Wisebox project to co-develop HorseSport.pro Vaulting.
EVUSA does not provide live support - competition managers are advised to thoroughly test and prepare for their competitions.

Why is EVUSA discontinuing the use of CompWeb?
The development of CompWeb around 2005 was a momentous improvement upon the mostly paper-based competition management systems then in use.
However, CompWeb would require substantial re-coding to accommodate modernization of the foundational server code underlying it. This would represent laborious changes to thousands of lines of code, with accompanying testing and debugging, and would still leave the CompWeb system supported only by the heroic efforts of Russ Hobby.
The EVUSA (then AVA) Board decided that a more sustainable solution for this critical function is to move to the Horsesport.pro competition management system under development by Wisebox Inc of Chilliwack Canada. EVUSA users who have competed in Canada may have used the “Canadian competition management system” and enjoyed its features, including management of uploaded music files. Wisebox and the EVUSA have entered into a partnership to ensure that essential features are in place to enable EVUSA competitions, with improvements to be added in a prioritized cadence over the next few years.
