Students Build Edmonton is a Minecraft Education build challenge created in partnership with the City of Edmonton. Through this collaboration, Edmonton Public Schools and the City of Edmonton work to identify an opportunity for students to envision areas of their city, and build it in Minecraft Education.

In this year's challenge, Edmonton Public Schools and The City of Edmonton are inviting students to envision future possibilities for The Quarters neighbourhood in Downtown Edmonton. Winning student submissions will be shared with City planners as part of learning and discussion related to ongoing planning work for this neighbourhood.
Envision and build a thriving and livable community in The Quarters.
Using the guiding principles from The Quarters Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan, imagine how this historic area could grow into a vibrant, safe, and welcoming place that provides homes, amenities, and opportunities for people who live there.

In April 2026, in-person Urban Design Workshops were held at Kirkness, and Bessie Nichols Schools. The resources to run these activities in your classroom are available in the document below.
