AI Professional Learning Sessions
This PL series is aimed at educators wanting to learn about or dive deeper into the world of AI in education. Each session covers a different aspect of professional AI use. The courses are geared towards AI use by teachers, but the "Guided Use" sessions are more general in terms of how to use these Division AI tools.

AI Community of Practice
Are you using AI tools to support teaching and are interested in having facilitated discussions with K-12 teachers from across the Division about its uses in educational settings? Are you grappling with professional and academic considerations, ranging from transparency of use, to human determination, to shifts in pedagogy? Join the EPSB AI Community of Practice sessions taking place throughout the 2026 - 2027 school year.
This school year we are offering five online sessions in this style, grounded in research and guided by participant input. The main ideas from a research article will create the foundation for the session, followed by two 20 minute breakout room conversations related to the topic. After each breakout room, participants will share back with the whole group to debrief the topic before voting on the topic for the next session. The goal is to create a continual cycle of learning by both being inspired others and by inspiring others in return. A basic understanding of large language model AI tools is encouraged and a willingness to try is required.
This session is intended for an audience of intermediate and advanced AI users.

Welcome to a professional learning experience designed to elevate your instructional practice and streamline your work. This year’s professional learning day features two distinct, deep-dive learning topics tailored to your goals. Whether you want to explore proven classroom technologies or master the shifting landscape of Artificial Intelligence, you will leave with practical, real-world strategies you can implement tomorrow.
Participants choose sessions from one or both of these overarching topics:
Topic 1: The EdTech Summit
Focus: Real-world innovation in the classroom.
What to expect: Dive into concrete examples of how peers across the Division are using technology to boost student engagement, foster creativity, and deepen learning. This stream is packed with practitioner-led success stories, live demonstrations, and scalable ideas for every grade level and subject area.
Topic 2: The AI Educator Accelerator
Focus: An immersive dive into Artificial Intelligence.
What to expect: Move past the AI hype and build true operational mastery. This stream is a comprehensive, hands-on workshop dedicated to how teaching staff can leverage AI for lesson design, personalized differentiation, automated administrative workflows, and ethical student use.

Join us for the 2026/2027 EdTech Lead Day on February 17, 2027. This full-day event is designed to foster relationships among EdTech Leads across catchments and divisions, reconnect and set the purpose for our EdTech Lead Networks, and provide valuable EdTech professional learning. The agenda includes unconference sessions, breakout sessions and the month's EdTech Lead meetings. We aim to reinforce the value of the EdTech Lead position and support the building of future EdTech leaders.
This day is designed for EdTech Leads and teachers interested in learning more about the EdTech Lead role.

What to Bring: Please bring a fully charged laptop or tablet. Several sessions will feature hands-on exploration, allowing you to customize and save the shared templates and tools directly to your device.

This course provides Edmonton Public Schools teaching staff the opportunity to earn graduate studies credit for their participation in Division professional development activities offered by Technology Integration and Planning Support (TIPS) consultants.
