As educators, our job is to protect our students above all else. However, the likelihood of students being affected by traumatic events during their high school career in some way is real. From car accidents to losing a student or teacher to illness or suicide, it is important for student journalists to fully understand how to cover trauma with empathy as well as how to cover trauma while dealing with said trauma themselves.
