Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
This overall week is heavily intended for planning, designing, and testing of the entire Trifinger Mechanism. The design team so far has managed to create our own version of the Horizontal arm, Diagonal arm, and Tip arm which has been able to move without any slippage under low speeds. However, we will need to improve upon the design and/or manufacturing method of the Horizontal arm due to curling and warpage off of our 3D printers (uneven cooling of PLA) and others if they were to recreate this contraption.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Designed and Printed one part of the arm.
Finished the Gantt Chart and planning delegation for the entire quarter.
Fixed the website error where people could not see the Homepage when not in Edit mode.
Set up Meetings with sponsors (Dustin)
Connected Python to Arduino
Goals for This Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Combine Arm to Base_Frame in CAD (Dustin & Sebastian)
Optimize the first Trifinger arm to accept more tolerance from curling (Sebastian)
Research ways to prevent curling in Ender 3 print (Joseph)
Finish the required Lab Report :
Abstract (Jonathan)
Background (Dustin & Jonathan)
Review of Existing Solutions (Joseph)
Statement of Requirements (Joseph)
Deliverables (Sebastian)
Title Page (Jonathan)
Appendix with Individual Components (Team)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate the date of comments and if via email or in-person)
01/07/21 - Be more prepared before the meeting - Gantt Chart created and planned in more detail
Risks and Areas of Concern:
3D Printing using Ender 3 causes curling.
Suggestions on how to prevent this?
Our largest part (230mm) does not fit on our printers' beds (220mm x 220mm)
Parts that are bought 3-4 weeks ago has not arrived yet and is arriving late.
How and what time can we use the design shop to use the following machines. (Tap, T-slotted Aluminum Cutter (or bandsaw))
Budget
None spent this week
