Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Design: Drive mechanism two using a bevel gear is refined. Changed RC to use grade N42 rather than N52 magnetsm, since N52 is too powerful.
Fabrication: Drive mechanism (Prototype #2) is 3D printed in high resolution (30-40 micron) and to scale. Working on assembly to drive. Remote control made of acrylic with hall sensor assembled.
Tests: Drive mechanism (prototype #2) will be tested this week. RC permanent magnetic system can rotate the magnet on the current prototype. Hall sensor connected and can determine polarity of magnets.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Ordered Titanium, will arrive next Monday. Remote control proof-of-concept was assembled refined to no longer contain a slight torque in the gears. New drive mechanism (prototype #2) was 3D-printed in high resolution VeroClear using the Connex3 printer. Second draft of report was written.
Goals for Next Week
Macy: Create a more portable and suitable prototype of the RC. Integrate the LCD screen into the Arduino circuitry. Calibrate number of rotations between magnets.
Dingyi: Assist in machining of prototype #2.
Ashley: Modify and test remote control design. CAD exterior remote control design.
Alec:. Begin machining of prototype #2.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Suggestion: RC is good but work faster
Action: Refined Remote Control. Showed proof of concept with rotating magnet. Hall sensor integrated.
Suggestion: Prove that the to scale model will work. Without a 3D Print in another material at high resolution, do not assume that titanium will make it functioning.
Action: 3D printed parts of the to scale model with Connex3 printer.
