Guidelines for Report
Weekly Progress Reports should be printed out before meetings with the sponsor and instructor.
All team members should be able to explain all items on the progress report.
To start a new progress report, create a new webpage and use the Progress Report Template.
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Budget at UCSD is $500.00 ($279.15 already spent). Budget at SPAWAR is $5500 ($2916.03 Spent)
Track and 1/2 of drive shafts/wheels arrived. Track has been cut, but awaiting arrival of belt lacing to splice (Ryan)
Frame and chassis designs finalized for fabrication (Mike)
Track Tensioner design finalized and approved by sponsor. Springs and hardware analysis complete. Awaiting arrival of parts. Metal cutting planned for weekend (Ryan)
Working on Controls and have all software and packages installed and ready to go for the week. Still in need of power cable for testing. (Edrees)
Segway power cable/hub adapters ordered (Edrees & Mahin)
Drive train gear ratio, sprocket sizes, and chain size determined. Awaiting arrival of parts. (Mahin)
Idler wheels purchased. Awaiting arrival. (Ryan)
Final design of custom drive shafts complete. Awaiting parts to begin machining (John)
All COTS parts ordered (All team members)
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Finalized chassis design after talking to Aaron (Mike)

Revise and update project report (All team members)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Final design concepts look good and are ready for fabrication.
Time is running out, so parts need to be ordered immediately (already done) and machining needs to be done. Send out or machine ourselves?
Controlling the Segway should require only a wireless controller and a laptop attached to the top of the robot.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Need to start cutting metal immediately to meet time constraints!
Final designs look feasible and ready to fabricate.
Project Report is poorly organized and formatted. Tables and charts need to be homogenized, and sections should be organized by topic with appropriate titles.
Risks and Areas of Concern
Machining will be the most time consuming aspect from now on. We need to decide which parts to send out and which parts we will machine in our shop.
We still do not know the exact power capabilities of the robot because of inability to test. If the data given to us by Segway is not correct, our gear ratio may be wrong.
Hexagonal drive shafts and unusual attachment requirements are an engineering challenge.

Progress on Report and Webpage
Home and Reports pages reformatted and organized (Ed)
Added links to sponsor and updated Project Management page w/ video embedded (Ryan)
Added links to budget forms and order forms in Budget page. (Ryan)
Added team member info, link to sponsor, and acknowledgements to Team page (Ryan)
Added photos and CAD to Multimedia page (Ryan)
Added presentations and final report draft to Reports page (Ryan)
