Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.

• • Track type decided (snowmobile parts). Online purchase locations researched (ebay for used, Dennis Kirk for new). Awaiting financial approval...

  • Initial Frame and Tensioner ideas decided. Initial designs in progress.

  • Basic force and power calculations complete. Need to purchase and inspect hardware before continuing with more detailed calculations.

  • Segway basic robotic platform acquired. Not yet disassembled for conversion. Controlling equipment not provided, so we are unable to perform operating tests.

• • Tensioner design was more complex than he expected, but he was willing to experiment with the new idea.

  • Tracks come in a wide variety, and fiber-reinforced tracks seem like the best option.

  • Frame and track geometry design can be simple if flat, but have greater climbing ability if angles are used as well.

• • Team members are contributing bits and pieces to all parts of the project. Specializations should be decided immediately.

  • Lack of reliable meeting times for all team members make cooperation a chore.
