Guidelines for Report
Weekly Progress Reports should be printed out before meetings with the sponsor and instructor.
All team members should be able to explain all items on the progress report.
To start a new progress report, create a new webpage and use the Progress Report Template.
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Budget at UCSD is $500.00 (>$250 already spent). Budget at SPAWAR is $5500 ($0 Spent)
Track type decided (snowmobile parts). Ordered all drive shafts, drive wheels, and track. Track and 1/2 of drive shafts/wheels arrived. Yet to order idler wheels. (Ryan)
Frame and chassis design complete, but pending sponsor approval. Cannot order parts until sponsor approved final design. (Mike, Ryan)
Tensioner requires redesign based on sponsor request. Springs and hardware to be ordered within 24 hours. Preliminary spring-force testing upcoming (awaiting parts to arrive). (Ryan)
Segway basic robotic platform taken to campus for full access of all team members. Researching ways to control the Segway. (Edrees)
Drive train gear ratio, sprocket sizes, and chain size determined. Awaiting ordering of needed parts. (Mahin)
Chain tensioner design complete. Small scale prototyping in progress. Final parts awaiting order. (John)
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Created a cleaner website/feasibility (Ed. Siddiqui)
Purchased Snowmobile tracks (Ryan)
Purchased drive wheels/drive shafts/tracks (Ryan)
Chain Tensioner prototype parts purchased (John)
Motor shaft adapter redesigned (Mahin)
Researched idler wheels, raw frame materials, axle materials (Ryan)
Track tensioner redesigned from 4-bar to 1-bar (Ryan)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.

Website Updates/Construction (Ed)
Begin researching methods of remotely controlling the robot. (Ed)

Cut tracks and begin spring force tests for track tensioner (Ryan)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Retracted support for a track tensioner loaded by a gas compression spring because it cannot lock in retraction. A locking mechanism can be easily designed into existing plans.
Reiterated that stock Segway parts must be unaltered so that the track kit is reversible.
Expressed support for a frame superstructure to support the chassis and double as a load platform.
Did not want us to begin fabrication without express consent
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
Presentation last week; no instructor meeting
Risks and Areas of Concern
Worried about loading and cyclic fatigue at connection points
Time management is starting to become an issue (being late to scheduled meeting with sponsor).
