Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Currently, we have designed our system as a unibody of the mixing chamber and the testing chamber. We were able to control the ambient temperature of the chamber by the on and off control of the solenoid valve, but still need to work on the insulation of the whole system.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Finished our design which is a strong candidate for the final design (Mixing chamber and testing chamber all in one)
Fabricated the re-designed system and we are waiting to get another fan to run experiments
Attempted to calibrate RTD using RC circuit
Obtained the pump that will be used to pull vacuum from the double walled chamber
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Obtain a second sunon fan and run several experiments (Everyone)
Work on modifying the current LabVIEW program (Yule Kim & Youngjin Kim)
Finish fabrication of the complete system, and also finish the mixing chamber as requested (Inkyu Kim, Youngjin Kim)
Revise the report (Kyoung Kim, Yule Kim)
Calibrate RTD (Youngjin Kim)

Try 1000-ohm RTD or calibrate 100-ohm RTD by configuring the different voltage ranges from the DAQ board - As we did not have a 1000-ohm RTD, we tried setting our DAQ board for smaller voltage range, and also tried constructing the RC circuit to filter out the noise. It did not work too well, and we still need to work on it more.
Based on revisions that our instructor made for us, we have re-designed our system and fabricated it accordingly.
Risks and Areas of Concern
When using two fans with diffuser in the middle, we are currently unaware of how the circulation will go; Yoshio recommended us to use some kind of smoke to observe the motion of the gas when circulating under two fans.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
As the circuit diagram of the RTD is quite complex, we might need some extra help calibrating the RTD
Schedule
We are going to try to finish the complete fabrication of our system by this week
Finish creating the control system (fans and solenoid valves) by 8th week
Work on the presentation of the final design review
Start brainstorming the final poster
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Spent: $733.65 | Remaining: $1,266.35
Progress on Report and Webpage
Started revision of the report
Will update the webpage with our new design
