Team 13 – Delta Design – Week 6 Progress Report
Inkyu Kim, Kyoung Kim, Youngjin Kim, Yule Kim
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
· Modified the testing chamber
· Performed an experiment with only LN2
· Performed calculations(mass of N2 required to evaporate LN2 and to warm up temperature)
Accomplishments from Previous Week
· Fabricated the modification of the testing chamber
· Completed fabrication of fan/heat sink/resistor assembly
· Mass of gas calculations, attempted heat exchanger calculations
· Performed several tests to control the testing chamber temperature at -50 with existence of heat source at: constant heat dissipation, random heat dissipation, and with the fan operating and obtained results
· Came up with the new design of the testing chamber
Goals for Next Week(list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives
· Get RTD to work properly - signal creates a lot of noise with stable current source(Kyoung Kim)
· Finish fabricating testing chamber – make a diffuser, seal(Everyone)
· Continue working on LabVIEW program (Yule Kim, Youngjin Kim)
· Obtain a vacuum pump – ask Isaiah (Kyoung Kim)
· More completed calculations of the system (Inkyu Kim)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
· Advised us to get some extra help from professor Jerry since he will not be able to meet us for two weeks
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
· Perform calculations – enthalpy, efficiency of heat exchanger
Risks and Areas of Concern
· A lot of leaks in the system’s piping – use thread seal?
· RTD – not stable
Resources or information Required but not Available
· Flat plate heat exchanger specification sheet
Schedule
· Work on LabVIEW program
· Finish fabrication and fix leak problems – Use thread seal?
Budget
· Spent: $733.65
