Team 13 – Delta Design – Week 1 Progress Report
Inkyu Kim, Kyoung Kim, Youngjin Kim, Yule Kim
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Two designs in mind: (Hand Drawing made on hard copy – turned in to Professor Tustaniwskyj
Accomplishments from Previous Week
· We’ve done calculations on insulating materials such as what insulating material would give us the most time before condensation occurs on the outside of the chamber.
· Performed a preliminary design of a testing chamber through CAD.(YoungJin’s idea)
Goals for Next Week(list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives
· Calculate and analyze if the flat plate heat exchanger is feasible(Kyoung Kim, Youngjin Kim)
· More brainstorming for design(Gas recycling, mixing chamber)(Yule Kim, Inkyu Kim)
· Buy materials(solenoid valve, 50W resistors, mixing chamber materials)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
· Recommended using solenoid valves and RTD temperature monitors and may provide us with an existing testing chamber
· Obtained 3 RTD temperature monitors and began researching solenoid valves
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
· Perform mass flow rate calculations of LN2 and CDA – In progress(obtaining resources)
Risks and Areas of Concern
· If the flat plate heat exchanger will work
· Mass flow rate calculations
Resources or information Required but not Available
· Flat plate heat exchanger calculations
Schedule
· Brainstorm and research for possible designs
· Perform calculations (mass air flow, flat plate heat exchanger)
Budget
· Spent: $0
