Team 13 – Delta Design – Week 2 Progress Report
Inkyu Kim, Kyoung Kim, Youngjin Kim, Yule Kim
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
-Preliminary Design separately presented
Accomplishments from Previous Week
· We’ve calculated the mass flow rate (and volume flow rate) of the required combined gas of LN2 and CDA to keep the temperature of the test chamber at -40 while the DUT is generating 200W.
· We’ve calculated the desired specification of a fan (about 20cfm) required to recirculate the gas in testing chamber for recycling purpose.
· We’ve chosen the materials and components that we are going to be using for our prototype mixing chamber
· Prepared to order the materials and components
Goals for Next Week(list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives
· Create CAD of the finalized design (Youngjin Kim & Yule Kim)
· Order materials (Youngjin Kim)
· Start fabricating the prototype upon receiving the materials (Everyone)
· More detailed calculations & dimensioning (Inkyu Kim & Kyoung Kim)
· Create Flow chart/Pseudo code for LABVIEW programming for temperature control (Everyone)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
· We did not have our meeting yet as we are planning to do so on Tuesday 4/10. However, we have received some comments through our e-mail
· Recommended us to take a look at resistor (part # at digikey: A102156-ND) for heat generation to create 200W as it can easily be mounted on a plate or heat sink with lots of power dissipation
· Gave us the dimension of the test chamber (ID of inner chamber is 4-1/2”, and 5” tall)
· Possibility of getting us a spare chamber by this week
· Heat sink might possibly be provided
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
· More detailed progress reports
Risks and Areas of Concern
· If the flat plate heat exchanger will work
· Final decision between heater line vs. platform of fans in preventing the condensation
Resources or information Required but not Available
· Flat plate heat exchanger calculations
· Amount of time it takes inside the mixing chamber for LN2 and CDA to properly mix so that we can determine the length of the mixing chamber needed.
Schedule
· Finalize the design (CAD), edit the team webpage
· Validate the calculations performed
· Get the prototype finished ASAP and begin LABVIEW programming
Budget
Gem Sensor 7 Control D2017-24VDC 1 $49.50
